Features
Adding Sound Effects
Play a sound when a widget is displayed to grab visitor attention.
Setup
- Open the widget editor.
- Go to the Display tab.
- Toggle on Play a sound when the widget is displayed.
- Select a sound from the available list.
- Click Save & Activate.
When Sound May Not Play
Modern browsers require at least one user interaction (click, tap, scroll, or keystroke) before allowing audio playback. The sound will not play if:
- The visitor has not interacted with the page yet.
- The page was just opened or refreshed without any interaction.
- The visitor opened the page in a new tab and returned later without interacting.
Best Practices
Because of browser autoplay restrictions, sound effects work best in these scenarios:
- Click-triggered widgets -- the visitor has already clicked something to open the popup.
- After interaction -- show the widget with sound only after the visitor has scrolled, clicked, or typed on the page.
- Follow-up events -- use sounds for chat messages, confirmation dialogs, or notification-style popups that appear after the visitor has been active on the site.
After the first interaction, sounds play normally for the rest of the browsing session. Sound may also persist across same-tab navigation (clicking links within the site) since the browser considers the interaction state to carry forward.
