Cross-Device Countdown

The cross-device countdown ties a countdown timer to the visitor's identity (email address) rather than browser cookies. This ensures the deadline stays consistent no matter how or where the visitor returns.

How It Works

  1. The countdown begins when the visitor first views the widget.
  2. The deadline is linked to their email address, not their browser session.

Persistence

Because the timer is identity-based rather than cookie-based:

  • The same remaining time is displayed across all devices, browsers, and incognito windows.
  • Clearing cookies does not reset the timer.
  • Switching from desktop to mobile shows the same countdown.

This prevents visitors from gaming the countdown by clearing their browser data or switching devices.

Identifying Visitors on Other Browsers

To display the countdown timer on a browser where the visitor has not yet been identified, include their email address in the page URL. The system will recognize the visitor and show the correct remaining time for their countdown.
