Countdown Timers
Countdown timers create urgency by showing visitors exactly how much time remains before an offer expires. They are one of the most effective tools for driving immediate action.
---
Adding a Countdown Timer
- Open the Widget Editor.
- Go to Elements and find the countdown timer icon.
- Drag and drop it onto your widget canvas.
---
Visual Customization
Once placed, customize the timer's appearance:
- Background color — set the color behind the digits.
- Digit color — change the color of the countdown numbers.
- Font size — scale the timer to match your widget's design.
---
End Time Options
Configure what the timer counts down to:
- Specific moment — set an exact date and time for the countdown to reach zero.
- Duration — count down from a set amount of time (e.g., 15 minutes) starting when the widget first appears to the visitor.
- Sync with another timer — link this timer to another countdown timer widget so they stay in sync.
- Align with recurring holidays — use in combination with recurring date Display Rules to create timers that automatically align with seasonal promotions or repeating events.
---
Post-Timer Actions
Decide what happens when the countdown reaches zero:
- Continue displaying — the timer stays at 00:00:00 and the widget remains visible.
- Close automatically — the widget dismisses itself when time runs out.
- Redirect to URL — send the visitor to a different page (e.g., an "offer expired" page or a new promotion).
---
Important: Permanent Dismissal Behavior
When a timer is set to close the widget automatically, the widget is treated as dismissed. This means the widget will not appear again for that visitor (the same behavior as if they had manually closed it).
Keep this in mind when using duration-based timers — if a visitor sees the timer, it counts down and auto-closes, that visitor will not see the widget on subsequent visits unless you adjust your Display Rules to reset the dismissal.
