ActiveCampaign Integration

Note: Integrations must be set up by a Toolkit admin. To connect any of the integrations below, contact support and let us know which integration you'd like added to your account.

ActiveCampaign Integration

Connect Popup with ActiveCampaign to automatically add subscribers to your lists, apply tags, manage deals, and trigger automations.

Connecting ActiveCampaign

  1. In your ActiveCampaign account, go to Settings > Developer.
  2. Copy your API URL and API Key.
  3. In your Popup dashboard, go to the Integrations tab.
  4. Find ActiveCampaign and click Connect.
  5. Paste your API URL and API Key, then save.

Default Settings

After connecting, configure default settings:

  • Default List -- Choose which list new subscribers are added to by default.
  • Default Tags -- Optionally set tags that are automatically applied to every new subscriber.

These defaults apply to all widgets unless overridden in the widget editor.

Custom Field Mapping

Map Popup form fields to ActiveCampaign custom fields:

  1. Go to the ActiveCampaign integration settings.
  2. In the Field Mapping section, match each Popup field to the corresponding ActiveCampaign field.
  3. Custom fields must already exist in your ActiveCampaign account.

Available Actions

When configuring a widget's submit button (On Submit Actions), the following ActiveCampaign actions are available:

  • Add to list -- Add the subscriber to a specific list.
  • Remove from list -- Remove the subscriber from a specific list.
  • Add tag -- Apply a tag to the subscriber.
  • Remove tag -- Remove a tag from the subscriber.
  • Add to deal -- Create or add the subscriber to a deal.
  • Add to deal stage -- Move a deal to a specific stage.
  • Add to automation -- Enroll the subscriber in an automation.
  • Update custom field -- Set a custom field value for the subscriber.
  • Add note -- Add a note to the subscriber's contact record.

Display Rules -- Targeting ActiveCampaign Subscribers

Use Display Rules to show or hide widgets based on ActiveCampaign data:

  • Target visitors by their list membership, tags, or other ActiveCampaign attributes.
  • This allows you to show different popups to existing subscribers vs. new visitors.

Visitor Identification

To identify returning visitors from ActiveCampaign emails, append the subscriber's email to links in your ActiveCampaign emails:

https://yoursite.com/?conv_email=%EMAIL%

When a subscriber clicks this link, Popup recognizes them and can apply ActiveCampaign-based display rules.
