Fit

6 courses · part of Foundation (Assess)

Fit is one of six pods in the Foundation pillar. Each course in this pod builds on the one before it.

Not every business model is right for every person, and the one that is right for you today may not be the same one that was right five years ago. Fit is where you match what you learned about yourself in the Personal group with the actual options available to you right now.

The goal is elimination. You walk in with a dozen possible directions and walk out with one or two that genuinely match your skills, time, resources, and ambition level. Choosing the wrong model is the most expensive mistake you can make at this stage -- not because it costs money, but because it costs months or years of effort in the wrong direction.

What You'll Learn

  • Business Model Selection -- Survey the major business model categories: service, product, marketplace, membership, affiliate, and content. You will understand the real tradeoffs of each. No model is objectively best. The best one is the one that fits your life, your skills, and your market.
  • Time Commitment -- Map how many focused hours per week each model actually demands, from startup through stability. You will match models to the time you confirmed you have in the Personal group. This prevents the most common startup failure: choosing a model that demands 60 hours when you have 20.
  • Skill Matching -- Identify which of your existing skills translate directly to revenue in each model type. You will also identify the skill gaps that would need to be filled and decide honestly whether that investment is worth it at your current stage.
  • Resource Assessment -- Take inventory of what you already have: capital, tools, relationships, domain knowledge, existing audiences. Some models need money. Others need connections. Others need expertise. Know which currency you are rich in and choose accordingly.
  • Opportunity Filtering -- Apply a structured scoring system to your shortlisted options. Each opportunity gets rated against your personal constraints, skill set, available resources, and market conditions. The filter removes emotion from the decision.
  • Commitment Planning -- Define what a 90-day test looks like for your top choice. You will set specific milestones that tell you whether to keep going, adjust, or pivot -- before you have invested a year and your savings.
