Shield
Shield is one of six pods in the Financials pillar. Each course in this pod builds on the one before it.
It takes years to build a profitable business and one bad event to lose it. Protection is about putting the shields in place before you need them -- insurance, legal structures, contracts, and compliance systems that safeguard your revenue, your assets, and your reputation. This is the work most entrepreneurs skip until it is too late.
You did not build this business to have it wiped out by a lawsuit, a contract dispute, or a compliance violation. This pod makes sure that does not happen.
What You'll Learn
- Insurance -- How to choose the right insurance coverage for your specific business risks. You will evaluate general liability, professional liability, cyber insurance, and other coverage types -- understanding what each protects against and how to avoid paying for coverage you do not need.
- Legal Protection -- How to structure your business for maximum legal protection. You will learn about entity structures, liability shields, and legal best practices that separate your personal assets from your business risk -- working with legal counsel effectively rather than expensively.
- Intellectual Property -- How to protect the ideas, content, and brand elements that make your business valuable. You will understand trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and patents at a practical level -- knowing when to file, what to protect, and when it is not worth the effort.
- Contracts -- How to use contracts that protect your interests without scaring off clients and partners. You will build a library of contract templates for your most common business relationships -- client agreements, vendor contracts, partnership terms, and independent contractor agreements.
- Compliance -- How to stay on the right side of regulations without drowning in paperwork. You will identify the compliance requirements that apply to your specific business and build simple systems to meet them -- data privacy, financial reporting, industry regulations, and tax obligations.
- Risk Mitigation -- How to identify and reduce the biggest threats to your business before they materialize. You will conduct a risk assessment, prioritize the threats that matter most, and build mitigation strategies that reduce your exposure without paralyzing your growth.
