Robot — Create a Smart FAQ Bot with the AI Knowledge Studio

This guide walks you through building an AI-powered FAQ bot with the AI Knowledge Studio. Once set up, your bot answers customer questions automatically using the knowledge you give it.

Step 1: Create a new bot

From your dashboard, open the My Bots section and select + New Bot in the top-right corner. Give your bot a name.

Step 2: Open the AI Knowledge Studio

In the left sidebar, under Bot Tools, select AI Knowledge Studio. This is where you configure how your bot thinks and responds.

Step 3: Enable Standalone AI Chat

Toggle the Flow Builder / Standalone AI Chat switch to Standalone AI Chat mode. This runs the bot entirely from the Knowledge Studio, without using the Flow Builder.

Step 4: Set your business name

Under "Persona & Global Settings", fill in the Business Name field so your bot identifies itself correctly in conversations.

Step 5: Customize global instructions

The Global Instructions text area comes pre-filled with sensible defaults (roughly 1,000 of the 25,000 available characters). Add your own rules — about how your business operates, the tone you want, or things the bot should never say — below the defaults. Leave the existing formatting instructions in place.

Step 6: Add your knowledge

Under Knowledge Source, choose how your bot learns:

  • Direct Prompt (up to 250,000 characters) — Paste your FAQ content directly into a single field. This tends to give faster responses.
  • Knowledge Base (up to 500,000 characters) — Upload documents, add URLs, or crawl websites when you have a lot of content.

For most FAQ bots, Direct Prompt is the simplest choice.

Step 7: Enable lead extraction (optional)

Toggle AI Lead Extraction to automatically capture contact details from conversations. Captured leads appear in the AI Chat Log.

Step 8: Customize the widget

Open Widget Style in the sidebar to set your bot's appearance — its name, welcome message, colors, icon, and position on the page.

Step 9: Test your bot

Use the live preview to ask the kinds of questions your customers ask. Review the answers and refine your knowledge or instructions until the responses feel right.

Step 10: Embed it on your website

Copy your embed code from Integration Code in the sidebar, then add it to your site to make the bot live for visitors.
