AI Credits — How They Work

What Are AI Credits?
AI credits are a usage budget included with paid membership tiers. They power the AI features available across all your toolkit resources -- from asking questions to finding resources to getting real-time guidance.
Credits work like a spending balance, not a prompt counter. Simple tasks use less, complex tasks use more. The same credit amount can go a long way for everyday use, or be used faster for advanced work.
What AI Credits Cover
Your included credits power three categories of AI features:
Ask AI Questions
Get instant answers from an AI assistant on the site -- ask anything and get help without waiting.
Find the Right Resources Faster
Use AI to quickly locate lessons, tools, and helpful content instead of digging through everything manually.
Get Real-Time Guidance
Receive quick support and direction as you work through the material -- clarification, next steps, and more.
What Affects Credit Usage
AI usage is not flat-rate per request. The amount consumed depends on several factors:
| Factor | Lower usage | Higher usage |
|---|---|---|
| Task size | Short email, quick brainstorm, brief summary | Full content generation, long-form copy, multi-step analysis |
| Model choice | Standard models for everyday tasks | Premium models for deeper reasoning or stronger writing |
| Reference material | Simple prompt with no attachments | Uploading documents, PDFs, or referencing long articles |
| Conversation length | Fresh, focused chat | Long back-and-forth thread with accumulated context |
A good rule of thumb: basic prompts and everyday admin tasks use very little. Premium models, large tasks, long threads, and tasks with lots of source material use more.
When choosing a model, look for the cost indicator shown next to it -- more $ symbols means more credits used per request. Match the model to the task: lighter models for quick jobs, premium models when you need deeper reasoning.
How Credits Reset
- Credits renew each month
- Unused credits accumulate
- Credits expire on a 90-day rolling window
Checking Your Balance
Open your profile menu in the top-right corner and select AI Usage. There you'll see:
- Your current credit balance
- Your renewal date
- A usage history showing where your credits have been spent
Need More Credits?
If your included credits run low, you have options right from the AI Usage screen:
- Buy more anytime -- add credits as a one-time top-up whenever you need them
- Auto Top-Up -- automatically replenish your balance when it runs out, so your AI features keep working without interruption
When you reach your limit, you'll see a warning with the option to buy more credit on the spot -- so you're never stuck mid-task.
Tips for Getting the Most from Your Credits
- Start new threads for new topics -- long conversations accumulate context and cost more per message
- Use standard models for everyday tasks -- save premium models for work that needs deeper analysis
- Keep prompts focused -- a clear, specific request uses fewer credits than a vague one
- Attach only what's needed -- every document or reference included in a request increases usage
