Auto-Updates & Version Management
What This Gives You
What BD gives you by default: No widget update system. If you want changes, you either wait for BD platform updates or pay a developer to make custom modifications.
What DirectoryCustomize adds: Your widgets update automatically when we release improvements. Bug fixes, new features, and design enhancements push to your site without you lifting a finger. And if you prefer to review changes first, you can turn auto-updates off and approve each one manually.

How Auto-Updates Work
When we release a new version of a widget, it gets pushed to your site automatically — no action needed on your end. This keeps all your widgets current with the latest improvements, bug fixes, and features.
Turning Auto-Updates Off
If you prefer to review updates before they go live:
- Go to the My Widgets tab
- Find the Auto-Update All toggle in the top bar
- Flip it off
When auto-updates are off, new versions appear as available in the widget list but don't install until you approve them. This gives you full control over when changes go live.
Checking Widget Versions
Each widget in the My Widgets tab shows its current version. To see the full version history:
- Click the version badge next to the widget name
- A popover shows every past version with release notes
The Dashboard also shows how many updates are available across all your widgets — click the Updates Available stat card to jump to the widget list.

Note: Widget updates and plugin updates are separate. Widget updates affect the search and display features running on your site. Plugin updates affect the admin panel interface you use to manage everything.
